Calla Lily

Three steps out my front door, I found inspiration for these lovely Calla Lily beads. Out here in West Marin, the lilies bloom along nearly every street — a sure sign of spring! With a vase of flowers on my work-table for guidance, I created a strip of clay in graduated colors from soft green to pale yellow to creamy ivory. I then experimented to find a cut-out shape that I could form around a bright yellow spadix into just the right calla lily bead.

I created three sizes. The largest became pendants that look gorgeous strung on your favorite gold chain. The minis and medium beads I made into one-of-a-kind earrings. I find them enchanting — don’t you?
